Stepping out of the transport felt awfully like being brought to a slaughterhouse. It wasn’t that much different, if she thought about it: years ago it had felt the same. She’d been inexperienced back then, unprepared. She didn’t feel ready this time either.
As she walked through the doors into the building her look was of utter discomfort and resignation– not her usual smile like back home. No playfulness in this, no joy at the moment. Soon would come the time to fake smiles and courtesy. Right now, she didn’t have the need to hide it as she walked down the luxurious halls towards the lift.
I don’t want this. Not again.
