Within the comforts of his spacious living quarters, Dongsun slouched in his seat as he clicked away at videos recommended by Youtube based on the kinds of videos he had watched. He enjoyed the new uploads from channels he was subscribed to like some marathon, since he had been focused on nothing but work these past few weeks that it simply wasn’t possible for him to concentrate on anything else.
Now satiated from his horror and true crime series binge, he then looked up on the new releases in the world of music, domestically and internationally. He read up on some articles and watched some clips of performances of artists he listened to from the recently held Coachella event.
Based from the variety of artists and performances, he realized and appreciated the fact this this was truly the age where it wasn’t just one era of music defining this generation. To him, it felt like the clashing of eras-- as there were countless of genres to choose from at this point. In fact, it did a favor for the producer’s fickle nature. If he ever got worn out from listening to a single genre, he could jump over to another. For a music buff like him, this was almost like paradise.
And afterwards, he decided to look up specific covers of some songs that left an impression on him from the event. In this day and age, with social media running more rampant than ever, any of these Youtube channels could make a name for themselves if they were granted with the grand combination of luck and opportunity. After all, it was how Dongsun got recruited as a producer a decade ago. Oh, how time flies.
Unimpressed with the first few suggestions, he scrolled down further. “Hm?” His sunglasses-covered eyes squinted at a face displayed at the thumbnail. Were his eyes playing tricks on him? Or did he find the Youtuber familiar? Curious, he clicked on the video. And as soon as she greeted herself, his eyes widened in surprise. “Eh? Hanhee-ah?” He couldn’t believe it. It was one of his closest colleagues when he first started out as a producer-in-training. Her smile, her aura, and especially her voice... It was undoubtedly her.
He pressed his lips as he typed and sent her a private message on her Youtube channel: Hanhee-ah. It’s me, Lee Dongsun. We met almost a decade ago. Like, when we were still trainees? But in different fields. What a pleasant surprise! How have you been? Ah. Better yet, we should meet up to catch up, if you don’t mind? If you’re suspicious I’m someone pretending to be me, then I can always send you demos we’ve made together.ㅋㅋ Looking forward to hear from you!
