For those of you who have our hard hat stickers, you may honor Jay by placing the mourning band (black electrical tape) across our sticker. For those of you who do not have our sticker who would like to honor Jay, place the mourning band across your company logo if you wish. Some protocol on wearing a mourning band upon the line of duty death of any member/brother/sister: Wear the mourning band from the time of death until 30 days following the line of duty death. Some important points of such a policy are: For round, square and “shield” type badges, the mourning band should be horizontal on the badge and centered half way between the top and bottom. For star shaped badges, the mourning band should be diagonal, going from right to left, with the high point on the right.
