Stars
In the night sky there are many stars but none of them could ever shine as bright as the light in your eyes and the love in your heart.
That’s what I would have said three years ago; but last year something happened, and you lost the light from your eyes and you took the life from your body.
Everyone who ever met you cried that day.
If I’m being honest I knew you, but not really. I’d met you, and there are pictures of us, but we weren’t close.
I was still shocked and speechless. I couldn’t imagine how someone as vibrant as you could fade to black.
How someone with such a warm heart could end up cold and broken in a casket at eighteen by choice.
Stars burn bright but they also burn out. I guess you decided you were done being a person.
Don't worry though, David. You gave your light to everyone you met, everyone you loved, and now they're passing it on.
Your memory will never fade.
