Remembrance spell/ritual
This is a super easy little spell/ritual I use to honour my loved ones who've passed away. It's especially effective on a special date(anniversary of the death, birthday, a personal date you shared, etc), but can be comforting to do at any point when you feel troubled by grief.
You will need
A candle--white is a good all rounder, but you can also use one in their favourite colour, or multiple candles if that feels like it sets the mood better
Your drink of choice(eg. Tea, cocoa)
A photo of the person you're remembering(if you don't have one, you can write their name on a piece of paper, use something that reminds you of them, or draw them)
Optional items:
A small trinket/object that reminds you of the person
Crystals: either use ones which remind you of the person(in colour or meaning),or I recommend rose quartz or clear quartz--- but this really depends which crystals you feel connected to
Lavender/rosemary/sage/your herbs of choice, to either cleanse the area before beginning or to smell to clear your mind before beginning
Instructions
Before beginning, perform any cleansing rituals, meditation, or centering you may like to do.
Set up the photo of the person in front of you, by the candle(s)
Light the candle(s)
For as long as you need, settle yourself until your mind is calm and clear, then say: "By the beauty of this world, and all that awaits us in the next, I remember my dear friend/sister/brother/mother/etc. I call them to me, and honour their memory."
Now is the time when you can connect with your loved one. Sip your drink, gaze at the photo, hold the item you brought, maybe talk to them or write them a note if you feel like it. If you feel awkward at first, try recounting a favourite memory you shared, or telling them how much you love and miss them. Take as long for this as you like.
When you feel ready to finish the spell, say your goodbyes to your loved one, then say: "I bid you farewell, dear sister/friend/etc, for now. I feel your blessing and send you my own. Until we meet again."
Blow out the candle(s)
This can be done as often as you feel you need to. Since it's so personal, you can obviously change or add elements to suit the specific person you're remembering, and you can invoke deities at the start if you wish to! Good luck, and happy witching ✨
