Love is a wonderful, powerful element. There should be nothing to hold you back from loving someone unconditionally under any kind of relationship, be it romantic, intimate, or platonic. One always has the chance to show how much they appreciate a particular person, no matter what day it is. Although there are many ways to do so, there ought to be no restraint to how and when you feel like expressing it.(Unfortunately, the pressure of commercialized holidays enforces how and when a person ought to feel the requirement to show their love to someone at a certain time.)
However, love is not always just about one another person. Often do we forget about one of the most important people in the world to love: ourselves. Individual persons have the tendency to take themselves for granted or even forget to look after themselves. Sometimes they do not love themselves enough, or think very little of themselves in favor of others for various reasons, whether as an act of selflessness or utmost admiration in comparison to yourself. On the contrary, it is always just as important to love yourself as you would for those you care about.
Never forget to love yourself. Look back on your deeds and count your blessings. Think of the times you let yourself have fun amongst others and remember that your presence made that moment wonderful for everyone. Remember the moments when you've significantly helped your comrades and friends, or that pride you felt when you've made the best decision that changed your life for the better. Have a treat every now and then. Reward yourself after completing a hard task. Give yourself a pat on a back when you solve a problem. High-five yourself each time you come up with the wittiest comeback or pun that fired from your very mouth. Seize the chance to get a froyo afterwards. And smile. Always wear a smile while you're at it.
When you give love to others, don't forget to give a little love to yourself as well. Get the thing you've always wanted or looked forward to! Something that makes you happy all the way. Whether you buy yourself the best chocolate brand ever, take yourself out for sushi and ice cream, or brighten someone else's day with a surprise, it's a vital ingredient to life to look after and maintain your own happiness every now and then. Because just like everyone else, you deserve to be happy.
