LivKontrol Launches First Ableton Live Remote Controller for Android
Android doesn’t get very much love from mobile music makers, and it is because they have shot themselves in the foot by not looking into Android audio as much as they should have. Just about everything else on the Android is just as good as the iPhone, except for audio. Audio is amazingly sucky. Playing audio through a media player is fine, and sounds just as good the iPhone – but producing audio is a painful process. Unless you are using some sort of sequencer, the only want to create it live is by using touch commands; and these commands can lag to a point where it is unusable. Because of this inherent problem, many developers have shied away from developing music apps for the Android. LivKontrol has recently announced their launch of the Ableton Live Remote Controller for Android users. A remote control is different from an app, in that is needs to actual software running on their computer screens to work. Instead of running itself, it merely mimics what you are seeing on screen, and you even have the option to port a tool (like an EQ patch) and view it directly on your tablet or mobile phone. http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2013/07/01/livkontrol-launches-first-ableton-live-remote-controller-for-android/
