Removing the Yahoo Toolbar from Internet Explorer

The Yahoo Toolbar while somewhat useful it does slow down internet explorer like the other toolbars.  The Yahoo Toolbar comes with a nasty side effect in that it is often installed with other Yahoo applications such as Yahoo Messenger.  Even if you go and disable the toolbar it will re-enable itself automatically.  I find this an extremely annoying tactic to keep the toolbar enabled and running in your browser.

In addition the toolbar also installs another program which runs in the background to check for updates.  In the end I highly recommend removing the toolbar and the accompanying applications.  In the video below, I will show the process of removing the toolbar from your computer.

Remove toolbars in Internet Explorer

Want to remove toolbars in Internet Explorer?

Several years ago browser toolbars were more of a necessity. Internet Explorer didn’t have that convenient search box in the upper right corner.  Internet Explorer toolbars were a convenient way to have your favorite search engine accessible anytime while browsing the web.  Today toolbars are a relic and don’t provide much use.  As a result many people still install them unknowingly not realizing the overhead they just added to their surfing experience.

Toolbars can be a huge performance hit on browsing the web with Internet Explorer or Firefox. You will want to remove toolbars in Internet Explorer and Firefox that are not necessary.  Unfortunately, there are a ton of toolbars out there from the legitimate Google, Bing and Yahoo to the unsafe myWebSearch bar.  The only toolbar I consider useful from a technical perspective is the Google toolbar. Without a doubt if you have a toolbar installed, you are using up screen real estate and slowing down your browsing experience.

Something you may not know is that many toolbars hide a dark side.  Many are in fact tracking your browsing patterns and sending that information back to a server on the internet.  All of which is most likely against your permission. It’s in your best interest to remove toolbars in Internet Explorer, your browsing experience will be much improved.

First admit you have a toolbar problem and decide to do something about it. Obviously, we need to remove these toolbars from your browser. Unfortunately, each toolbar is different and may or may not be easy for you to remove.  My plan is to take the following list of toolbars and explain how to remove them.

Remove The Search Engine Toolbar From Firefox

A toolbar is a browser add-on that is added to the web browser for improving the browsing experience and to offer services gave by the toolbar producer. Notwithstanding, a few toolbars aggravate the browsing experience by backing off the web browser. Here we discuss how you can remove such toolbars from your system.

Instructions

Open the Firefox web browser by double clicking on its icon found in the desktop, however if you are not ready to find the icon on the desktop, click on its tab found under the All Programs segment in the Start menu.

When the web browser shows up on the screen, click on the Tools menu found at the highest point of the window and afterward on the Add-ons tab found in the drop down menu that shows up on the screen.

From the context menu that shows up on the screen, click on the Extensions tab for opening another window. This window will reveal to you a list of all add-ons and extensions added with the Firefox web browser. Search for the Search Engine toolbar in the list by scrolling down through the list and afterward clicking on the toolbar when found for selecting it.

Now, move the mouse pointer to the highest point of the window and click on the Disable button found there to remove toolbar from your web browser.

Restart the Firefox web browser, and you will no more see the toolbar in the browser, nonetheless it will be in the Extensions window and can be enabled if you feel the requirement for it.

For totally removing the toolbar from the system, follow the steps given beneath.

Open the Control Panel window by clicking on its tab found in the Start menu and after that search for the Programs tab in it.

Click on the Programs and Features option found under the Programs tab for opening another window.

This window will list all the toolbars and programs installed in your system. Search for the toolbar that you need to remove from the system and click on it when found.

Now right click on the toolbar and afterward click on the Uninstall option found in the context menu that shows up on the screen to remove toolbar totally from the system.

Follow the prompts indicated by the toolbar evacuation wizard and restart the system once the methodology completes for saving the changes.

If you follow the basic instructions given above, you can remove any toolbar from your system with ease.
