Random Jesus Ramble

I've been thinking alot about Tumblr, and really all the social networking stuffs.

There's a fear and a joy all at the same time. A ViceVerses i suppose. (if i understand what switchfoot meant).

You see, for me as a Christian, I'm ecstatic to see others posting photos and lovely sayings and beautiful poems, all for the glory of Jesus. It is extremely encouraging...especially for someone who lives in a very stone cold, dry, bible belt ridden area as myself.

My encouragement to any Christians who happen to stumble upon my (very uninteresting) tumblr page, is to live up to the title you've declared to hold. Whether you declared it years ago, or are just now a new born "babe" in Jesus.

We are called to love all. We are called to use the resources and time we have to help those who are hurting. Not because its "self-righteous", or "socially just" to help them. But because we hope that by playing an encouraging song at your show, or by spending time to care about your co-worker, or by passing a class with good grades and helping your peers by tutoring them will give you a door to direct any esteem, accord, praise, awe that is easy to take for ourselves....and direct it to the one that makes it possible.

For me, i want to play music, maybe it will be in a church service for the rest of my life, maybe it will be on a stage at a concert. Either way though, my hope is that my desire be motivated because i recognize all that God has done for me.

If we truly understand how great a sacrifice was made for us and recall what the sacrifice saved us out of and from, i believe the way we approach our King would be entirely different. And our tumblr pages, our facebooks, our myspaces, our twitters, our youtubes would all be infected with Jesus. That we would reflect and expose Jesus' glory and love. We wouldn't be able to stop talking about Him. the same way we tend to spend hours talking about how amazing that movie was, or how great that comic book is, or how marvelous that video game looks, or how awesome that band is (no matter how obscure((for you hipsters))).

Those things aren't bad. But do they change our life as tremendously as Jesus does?
