In Noctem || Taemin & Wu Fan
Usually he was privileged to be able to stroll the streets of Seoul alone without a worry for danger in the world, his shoulders back and his chin tilted up, an easy gait as he towered and intimidated most passerbys. There was nothing Wu Fan really had to fear from the world despite its towering buildings, rising towards the sky in nothing short of a show of intimidation and the cold eyes of those in the world with intention to hurt. Most were just human, posing no threat even with their lethal machinery, as long as Wu Fan was prepared to counter the attack. He wasn’t entirely a very powerful being but he did possess handy ability to shift into a dragon and, with enough concentration, he could manipulate fire to his own will. Nothing truly posed any physical threat to him anymore and with that knowledge, he had free roam of Seoul with nothing to hold him back. It was liberating, really, the freedom that came with self assured safety.
Despite the comfort that the city undoubtedly brought, not everything seemed quite right in the streets that seemed so familiar. Cars ambled slowly past him, wheels slowly grating over asphalt, cautiously turning to glance behind him and to his sides. Inhale, exhale. He repeated this several more times before shaking his head as if trying to banish the thoughts that had made him bristle.
His steps were even, carefully measured out as he slipped his hands into his pockets, inching more towards the pools of light carefully shed by streetlights. Teeth worried at his lower lip, his shoulders slightly hunched against an invisible threat. He wasn’t an absent-minded person but he had learned for himself to trust his intuition after experience; it wasn’t rare to find another person enjoying a quiet evening stroll but not everyone always had such innocent intentions. Wu Fan was usually quickly able to avoid them and return back to the safety and warmth of his dorm so instead of being the foolhardy idiot he usually was, he pivoted on his heel only to face a male that was slightly shorter than him. So he hadn’t been wrong in his sense of foreboding after all. At first glance, he looked only like any other boy he would have run into on the streets but perhaps it was the way that the shorter stood perfectly still as if devoid of life that sent a shiver through his body. Wu Fan cleared his throat, the sound juxtaposing the silence.
— “... Uh, sir, don't mean to be rude but if you could move out of the way.”
