My #wcw ... Such an amazing character played by the stunning @msjaimemurray. Alien wise it's between Stahma and Zahn, from Farscape, for who is the most mesmerizing. Irisa is a close third for sure. @stephleonidas #farscape #renewdefiance #Defiance #stahmatarr #stunning #favaliens
I am so sad!!! Finally got a break from finals and the knee pain only to get to the last ep of #defiance. It's over! Like forever ); I cried so hard. #renewdefiance #syfy I'm going to miss you all so much... There is years of story left! Maybe I'll write/ draw some (: @stephleonidas @msjaimemurray @jesse_rath @juliebenzmft @tonycurran @syfy
Also your languages are beautiful and I wish I could just learn all of them, especially the ones featured on Defiance. It's such a well done show and I think your languages just add this whole dimension to not only the characters but also to the show itself. I hope that your languages gain the same following and popularity that Klingon did with the Star Trek fanbase!
I don’t think it’s likely… Part of what led to Klingon’s popularity was the popularity of the Star Trek franchise (there’s no comparison between that and Defiance), and the fact that there was no competition. No one really knew about created languages in the 80s and 90s, so it was really just Klingon that everyone had heard of. Now there’s a lot of conlangs attached to popular shows. The languages of Defiance can’t compete with the languages I created for Game of Thrones, for example—and none of those have any chance of catching up with Klingon.
But I always take a rather dim view of things. You never know. :) I’m hoping we get to do a fourth season of Defiance. I never could have imagined a show that has more conlang material and has had a conlanger more involved than that show. There may never be another show like that. It was a unique situation, and it’s been a wonderful experience. Here’s hoping that the train keeps a’rollin’!
I hope that if Defiance gets a season 4, and Nolan comes back, that when Irisa and Nolan see each other, she runs into his arms like she always does.
A quick little #RenewDefiance cartoon.
tales of gore: a loud, brash, and slightly dark playlist for Nolan & Irisa in their pre-Defiance days scraping by. a playlist for getting into dirty fistfights and cheating folk, for scamming crime lords and collecting bounties on their heads. for lying and stealing, for blowing, shooting, and stabbing their way through towns as selfish, amoral outlaws whose only concern is each other [listen here]
