Dracula drinks Lucy's blood, eventually killing her, and she becomes a vampire. Drac drinks Mina's blood and doesn't kill her, and she just gets sick and frail. After he feeds her his blood, she gets the psychic link to him and starts becoming a vampire. I think that implies that A: to make a vampire he either has to kill them after drinking their blood or drink from them and then feed them his blood, and B: Renfield has been fed Dracula's blood,but Dracula hasn't fed on Renfield to turn him completely.

Okay my interest in Renfield's physical description continues- he's described as having "great physical strength" but also as skinny (Seward comments on how one attendant would have trouble getting through the window and says he's skinny so it's not an issue for him).

I think this backs up my interpretation of the delivery men being embarrassed about being beaten by a "feeble lunatic" as them both assuming complete incompetence/inability to fight AND misjudging his strength based on his size and age.

More of a stretch is that I think his... diet... might influence his strength semi supernaturally. He might not have been doing his "farming" pre-Seward and had just been planning/theorizing about it. However, since Seward is the (often oblivious) narrator and Renfield is unreliable when talking about his own life, I'm picking that interpretation because I like it best.

I'm obviously very pro headcanoning and redesigning things, I'm just yapping about the og text because I find it interesting.
