Being a teacher is not easy, sometimes not only because of the students, but also because of some teachers who don't distinguish between private and professional life.
'Staying up late again? That's almost four days in a row now, wouldn't you like some help?'
Rengoku's gaze remained unchanged; it seemed as if he hadn't even heard her in the first place. His hands and gaze were focused solely on those papers he held, on nothing else.
'Aaaam, Rengoku? I'm talking to you... Could you at least shake your head to let me know if you need help or not?'
Again, the same thing happened. Rengoku didn't look at her; he was still engrossed in those papers. Were they exams? Maybe. Homework? Probably. Only he knew.
Kanae frowned, clearly annoyed, and slowly approached, grabbed his shoulders, and made him jump in fright.
'A-ah! Kanae... It was you. Sorry, I was just trying to look at these exams, I don't know, it's worrying...'
'Worrying? In what way?', she said as she took a chair and sat down next to him, ready to listen
And Rengoku did so, explaining how concerned he was about some students' grades. Some were doing well, but eventually they would fall behind and either not take exams or their answers weren't even related to the question.
Kanae listened attentively, noticing how that cheerful look that had captivated her before was beginning to fade, as if he were taking on a guilt that wasn't his to bear.
'I wonder if I'm doing something wrong... Or if there's something wrong with them... I believe in every child's potential, but these grades are too much...'
'Don't say that, you're an excellent teacher and everyone appreciates you. Whether students or teachers.', she gently took his cheek and stroked it.

Rengoku smiled as he felt the warm touch of his beloved; it felt comforting and almost a balm for his momentary worries.

He tried to move slightly away from her, but he couldn't, especially when he felt those hands that had been caressing his cheeks slowly move down towards his hips.

And she was right, Rengoku could enjoy them, but the idea that someone might peek in and tease his situation made him nervous and more vulnerable.
There was no one around and they both knew it; they had stayed longer than they should have and were the only ones there, but that didn't reassure Rengoku.

Kanae smiled gently and stopped, hugging Rengoku and letting him rest on her shoulder until he calmed down, laughing when he gently hugged her back.
