Shortly after the previous scene, Renly’s wife Margaery comes in hoping for a little fun, however she has already known about her brother’s and Renly secret relationship. In this case the creators of the show are queering the audience. They create this completely queer scene with two men half naked, and then a fully naked woman, having her address it with no questions asked. They are using queer as a narrative. The presence of homophobia is almost non-existent, as both acknowledge the fact that Renly is gay and that there is no issue with that. This in turn expands awareness that even in the days of kings and vikings there were still people of the queer community, however during these times it was kept behind closed doors but the people around them had accepted the fact with no question.
