Since we're on the subject already.
Over his now faded tattoo of Sei a new one starts to appear. The ink is red, just like the last one, and Mizuki tries to convince himself a couple of times that there must be a mistake.
"Ren." There's no doubt about it.
He stares quietly at it, he's heard the name before, it's the name of Aoba's Allmate. He scoffs, Ren, that could be anyone! The tattoo's gotta give him more than that.
No? Just Ren? Okay.
He nearly jumps when Aoba opens the door, and quickly hides his hand in the covers.
Now a year later he still has no idea what this new tattoo thing means, he's never heard of it happening before, why was it happening to him?
It's a summer evening when Aoba summons him and Koujaku, he's finally gonna introduce them to his boyfriend, officially!
But upon hearing the story Mizuki's heart sinks.
It's Ren. He knew from the moment they walked through the door. Ren must know too, right? If his tattoo changed, then...
It's another evening when Mizuki finally works up the courage to ask them.
"Aoba, you have a tattoo that says the name of your soulmate, right?"
"Yes! Mine says Ren, although it didn't appear until recently."
"And you, Ren?"
"Yes, mine says Aoba."
Mizuki leaves with a final "ah, I see. Sorry, I must go."
That same night Ren talks to Aoba "I think Mizuki wants to tell us something."
"Yes, he did seem weird today, do you think it's about 'that'?"
"I thought it was a mistake, but Sei's tattoo did not only stay on this body, it would seem Mizuki and I are soulmates as well."
"Hmm, so you have two soulmates, huh?"
"Aoba..."
"No, it's okay, if anything I'm glad the other person is him and not someone else, let's go talk to him tomorrow, okay?"
"Right..."
The next day they explain everything to Mizuki, he understands and apologizes for the inconvenience to Aoba, he says that since it was Sei, he doesn't have to share Ren at all.
"Mizuki, this was no mistake. The name changed, didn't it? It means your soulmate is not Sei anymore, but Ren. Same with me, and him."
"Aoba..."
"Now, come on, we can make this work. Drinks are on me"
"Actually"—Ren starts—"I'm the one with both of your names on my skin, drinks are on me."
"You're both wrong. If I want to win both of your hearts, it's my treat this time"
