i haven't been posting as much personal stuff as i used to back in ye olde days, so hi hello if anyone was wondering what the current set-up looks like it's! still! a! shitshow !!!

hopefully we'll get ppl in soon to tile the backsplash >>> connect/plug in the sink/dishwasher/range hood/oven >>> have a functional kitchen again

and when workers are done tromping through we can actually finish unpacking everything and set up the living room and decide on accent colour for the walls 😭

Jon and I spent the day at his house. He and his brother cleaned up the yard some more and I started scrubbing the bathroom. The whole house is gonna be gutted and redone and he's adding onto the back, but the bathroom is gonna be done last because a construction site still needs a bathroom and it is DISGUSTING so I was scrubbing to make it at least tolerable and so one wouldn't be afraid of touching anything and hoo boy do I ever have my work cut out for me. I was at it for like 6-7 hours today and I scrubbed most of one wall and most of the toilet. The lady that had lived there was in that house for 14 years and was a heavy smoker. Every wall in the house is stained yellow, including the bathroom and the ceiling. You can see a big white square in the kitchen where her China cabinet used to be. It's super gross.

Good news tho is that the acoustics in the master bedroom are exquisite and I was having a lot of fun just pacing the room and singing. There's original hardwood floors in there. The house was built in 1921. The basement is sketchy as fuck and it's very creepy to look down the stairs when the lights aren't on.

Jon is thinking we just get it cleaned up for now and he has someone that might rent the place as is for cheap for the winter and then we start renos in the spring and my dad is eager to help out. Once it's done we have 3 options. 1) we continue to rent it out, 2) we sell it for profit, or 3) we move into it. With options 1 and 3 Jon can remortgage the place and use that money to buy another place to reno. I would personally love to live there, but I know it's more practical that we rent it out. That way it pays for the rent at our place plus some extra and our current place we have so much freedom. Rent is cheap and we have a huge yard and almost no neighbors. If we moved into this house we would have a small yard and neighbors, but we wouldn't be a half hour outside of town. We would be in the middle of town.

Anyway, lots to think about, but I think it'll be a good experience!!
