“adulting” problems
a little personal post:
so I have been out of my parents place since graduating highschool, and thats not a brag or in anyways saying it was the best option..but due to apartment policies of the place that my parents live in and my toxic r/n with my father, i was forced into choosing to be independent from early on.... And thank God, it worked in my favor most times....I worked those overtimes, those late nights, lived with roommates, and more. I made it work.... But, a new thing happened recently and it completely caught me off-guard yall.
I just moved into a new place in downtown DC last monday, it was everything I imagined, its smack-dab in the middle of the city, its a room in a beautiful townhouse that looks like its straight out of my travels from boston or Amsterdam...its spacious and had big windows for a basement room.
so the issue... its ridden in mold!! because of the beautiful paint, and big windows, I was quick to rent this apartment. It has been a week of living in this room (Im honestly only here to sleep because I work fulltime anyways) but I have been coughing and having asthma attacks due to mold. I spent so much money in buying air purifier and dehumidifier. but it is still no help.
I did some research later on, and I found out that this house was built in late 1800s and it has only had one remodeling and that was like atleast 50 years ago.
im so upset right now, because I thought this room/apt was the answer to every issue I had (In the past i was commuting 45 minuets and more to work, and I lived with a roommate) so I thought having a stylish townhouse-basement in the city to my own would be the answer to everything.
I dont know what to do now, im tired of moving, I have been moving again and again for as long as I can remember ever since I left my parent’s place. I would just like to settle into a place I like for once.
moral of the story, dont rent basement units until you check humidty levels and signs for mold.
