Reoccuring Dream
oil on linen | 40 x 36" | 2011 rick stevens art
Idk why I keep getting this reoccuring but in some of my dreams
It's were I'm eating cinnamon toast crunch but it's spheres instead of squares and I'm eating it and my sisters like "there she goes again eating it like Captain crunch" and I correct her like "no it's like Reese's Puffs" and keep eating and as I reach the bottom there's three things I pull out a vial of sealant, a vial containing weed, and these little packages of blunt paper and give them to my sister who sets them aside. And then I keep eating while watching her with the items.
Honestly I have no idea why this exists
I have this reoccuring dream of driving by an old town that seems abandoned. There are still cars parked in the driveways and lights on in the houses so theres still people there but they never go outside
when i was a kid i had a reoccuring dream that someone was just sitting on the floor in the hallway outside my bedroom. i never knew what they looked like cause they were wrapped in some sort of cloth. it wasn’t really all that scary, just unsettling so i always slept with the door closed. i still do to this day cause when i don’t i get an unexplainable eerie feeling of being watched
An Older Dream
In my background information post, I had brought up one of my reoccurring dream episodes where the events in the dream deviated from what I had until that point thought was just a standard formula. After sleeping on it, I figured I’d might as well post my recount of that dream as well, since I still had it saved on my computer anyways. I had this dream back in September 2016. At the time, I was living alone in a shared single, with the other bed space being unoccupied.
At first, the dream had started out casually, feeling like any other dream I would normally have. I was simply walking across campus with a friend named Samuel, and we were talking about a school-hosted show we had just left. At the time, I do remember finding it rather strange to be with him though, as I kept having a nagging feeling in my head, reminding me that Samuel didn’t attend the same college as me, so it was strange for me to be walking home from a school event with him. I just brushed that aside though, not thinking anything of it.
The building where we attended the show was rather far from my dorm, being about a 15 walk. Along with this, it was clear on the other side of the campus, requiring us to need to walk through the entirety of the campus to get back to my room. My campus is rather pretty, but it always gives a rather creepy vibe at night, with the main strip being a long brick path, with the buildings and side paths branching off it. The outdoor lighting tries to illuminate the path, but it really nothing more than a soft glow, so the lights don’t really do much more than allow you to make out the buildings. They also leave plenty of shadows that someone could easily hide in, which isn't helped by the fact that there's also tons of trees lining the paths on campus, providing more shadows and places to hide.
Anyways, we're walking across campus, heading back towards my dorm. We’re only about halfway there when Samuel suddenly stops me in front of the building we're currently passing, saying he needs run in to grab something, and that he'll be right back. Right before heading inside, he told me to wait by the door for him, as I couldn't enter the building since I was not an engineering major. Immediately a few flags went off on my head, as there were a couple things wrong with this. For starters, the buildings on campus are all closed and locked up at a certain time, and it was well past eleven at night by this time. Also, students can generally access any of the buildings on campus, regardless of majors. Third, by my friend’s logic, he wouldn’t have been able to enter the building either, as he wasn't an engineering major either. We were both studying art at the time.
Despite this, I accept what he’s telling me, and stand outside the door while he heads inside. After some time waiting for him, I began hearing strange noises a short distance from me, on the main brick path, making me rather jumpy. At this point, I don't really remember much, but I'm going to assume that I either called Samuel to ask where he was, or he called me. I assume this because the next thing I remember is being on the phone, talking to him, when his voice suddenly cut out and was replaced by noises that sounded like gore and viscera. Upon hearing this, I dropped the phones and screamed.
The next thing I vividly remember is running across campus as fast as I can, in the direction of my dorm. During this entire time, I don’t remember passing any other people or cars or anything. This is rather strange, as campus is usually alive at night, especially after a campus event. Along with that, I also live on a busy street and in a rather busy building. Due to this, there's always at least a couple people at the front door or at least the desk of my dorm.
After I make it up to the building, entering, getting on the elevator, and making it up to my room are all a blur, as the next thing I remember is being in my room, getting ready for bed. Thinking back on this point, I find it sort of comical that I was able to casually get ready for bed, considering I had possibly heard my friend get killed.
Despite everything that had happened prior, I was able to get ready for bed and fall asleep relatively quickly. I guess I managed to sleep comfortably in my dream for a few hours, before a noise suddenly startled me. Upon waking up, my mind quickly registers the noise as my door opening. This immediately puts me into a feeling of dread, as you need a key to even open the door, so I’m the only person aside from my RAs who has access to my room, and they would never be entering at this time of night. Following the noise, I can see the light from the hallway coming into the room and can hear a figure begin to walk into the room. As he walks into the room, his shadow fills the room, before the door closes, putting the room back into darkness. Since I generally sleep curled up on my side, facing the wall, I am unable to see anything more. Due to the terror I am feeling at this point, I don't make any movements to roll over or even attempt to look over my shoulder. I just stay frozen in the position I woke up in. It’s at this moment I hear the footsteps come up to my bedside. After pausing for a second, the figure then rests his cold hand on my shoulder and goes "shhh".
At that point I genuinely woke up. When I was first waking up, I could still feel the presence of a hand on my shoulder, so I was terrified to move. After a few long moments though, the feeling went away, and I was able to relax slightly. Once my brain registered that my room seemed quiet and therefore empty, I was finally able to quickly turn on my bedside lamp and look around my room in an attempt to assure myself that there wasn't really anyone in my room at any point of the night.
While I never saw who harmed my friend or entered the room in my dream, I wrote this dream off as another episode of Z’s, as it fell in line with something that would happen in a dream involving him.
Orca: Orcas are dolphins and dolphins symbolize channeling in a dream. A channel is someone who can communicate directly with spirits and Angels. Dolphins and whales mean this because they are mammals that live in the ocean. In dreams the ocean represents spirituality, so here we have an air breathing mammal that has adapted enough to travel into the spirit world. The type of dolphin or whale involved is not important, although orcas are killer whales. In this context, the killer portion of the name shows the fear the dreamer has with regard to talking with the dead. Also their strong black and white color indicates a difficulty the dreamer has with regard to accepting spiritual communication. In essence they must overcome their black and white attitude that tells them things are either good or evil. When you have this attitude it is difficult to open your mind to something new. This could be due to religious doctrine.
