Send "mistletoe" for our muses to get caught under mistletoe!!
It was Christmas Eve already and Jaehyun was’t so excited about that. Christmas was only a day as any other, and since he didn’t have a family to celebrate with it was common if the brown-haired man only ate something, watched some movie and then went to sleep. He didn’t mind anymore, it wasn’t like minding would bring someone to spend Christmas with him. No one would.
A knock on his door made him drive his eyes away from the screen, a small and confused frown gracing his face when he hesitantly opened the door. Could be someone looking for him and well, he wasn’t going to work that day, he was feeling sick to that. But then, his eyes couldn’t believe in what they were seeing. It was Byunghun there. His best friend, the only one he had in his life now. The one he’d like to have by his side that lonely day. And he was there, smiling at him.
“What are you doing here?” Jaehyun asked unconsciously, still a bit confused. “You should be at the hospital with your sister, stupid.” Byunghun then narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, the typical frown coming to his now unpleased face. “Is that how you welcome me when I came here to invite you to come with me?” He retorted right away, opening a smile again just before curling his fingers around the elder’s wrist and pulling him. “Let’s go, we don’t have much time.”
Once again, Jaehyun ended up following Byunghun wherever he wanted to go. A common thing already, he already did that automactically, it was even pathetic to see. Hands trying to get warm inside of his pockets and his neck crying because he had forgot his scarf at home, the male looked around at the nearly empty street and sighed. His neck was really sensitive and that cold weather would really be a problem for him later if he stayed outside for so long, but Byunghun was saying random things that somehow distracted him and when he noticed they were in front of a coffee shop.
"Are you serious?" Jaehyun couldn’t believe they were in a place like that at the Christmas Eve, not when they could only have coffee at home, talking a bit before he could go see his sister and Jaehyun would be home already, now he knew he’d need to go home alone, and that was a little…upsetting. "Yah, Byunghun, it’s too cold, why are we here?"
"You only complain, don’t you?" The younger male retorted, huffing. "If you’re cold why didn’t you bring warmer clothes?" Because you didn’t let me, Jaehyun thought, but didn’t dare to retort back because he didn’t want to discuss in such a moment. throwing his head back to ignore the urge to say something else at him, Jae then saw a mistletoe hanging over then, on the door or the coffee shop. With that, he couldn’t help but laugh, not loud but softly. Great. Looking back down at Byunghun and seeing he still had a frown and crossed arms, he then sighed.
"Yah, you know my neck is sensitive, it’s freezing.." He said slyly, waiting for the reaction he already knew what would be. As expected, Byunghun muttered a soft "Ah, is that so?" and took his scarf off, tip-toeing then to wrap it around the elder’s neck. That was when Jaehyun took the chance.
Seeing him so close and innocently trying to warm him up, Jaehyun leaned in to plant a sweet kiss on his lips. Byunghun didn’t move because he was caught aback, so the kiss — that was more like a long peck — only ended when the elder parted their lips, their eyes meeting in the next moment. That was awkward, but at the same time not at all. The warmth of his lips made him forget the cold that was bothering him earlier, so unwrapping the scarf he had just rounded his neck, he now wrapped it around Byung’s neck, fixing it properly so he wouldn’t be cold.
"You should go to your sister now, she’s waiting for you. You’re her family and I’m sure she wants you to be with her when the Christmas come." Jaehyun was talking those things in a surprisingly sweet tone, which was really rare because he didn’t like talking about family and all, but that case was different. He knew how important she was to him. "Thank you for trying to cheer me up today, shorty." He said with a smile, leaning in again to press another kiss on his forehead, ruffling his hair then.
"Merry Christmas, Byunghun." His voice was tiny, so tiny the other could only hear because the street was empty. But that was enough for now. Only Byunghun needed to hear that anyway. Taking a deep breath before turning around to go home alone, Jaehyun thought he had already had his Christmas gift. And yeah, being alone that special night would probably be sadder than his previous Christmas.
