The third ensemble we see Phryne wear in “Blood at the Wheel” (Season 2, Episode 7) is a combination of her classic tan car coat, printed polka dot blouse, dark pants and her double strap black heels.
As appropriate for a car-centric episode, Miss Fisher’s linen car coat is one of the most often used pieces in her wardrobe, as it’s both practical and fashionable. Marion Boyce designed it specifically as an ‘ode to detectives’. Phryne wears it fifteen times just in seasons one and two; twice in 1x02, 1x03, 1x04, 1x06, 1x08, 1x09, twice in 1x13, 2x01, 2x04, 2x06, here in 2x07, then later in 2x10 and 2x12.
She also dons her matching linen bucket hat, dyed the same color as her coat, with its wide brim and sewn details at each of the four corners. This also appears multiple times in the series, twice in 1x02, 1x04, 1x06, 1x08, 1x09, 1x13, 2x02, 2x03, 2x04, 2x06, and here in 2x07.
Underneath, we see a beautiful deep green printed silk chiffon blouse with lighter green and white polka dots repeated on top. It also has a shifted strip of the same fabric attached below the point of her v-neck. She pairs this with her black silk faille wide-leg pants, black double strap heels, green teardrop earrings, and white driving gloves.
