No More Stories / Are Told Today / I’m Sorry / They Washed Away // No More Stories / The World Is Grey / I’m Tired / Let’s Wash Away, often shortened to No More Stories..., is the fifth studio album by Danish rock band MEW. Released in 2009, today it celebrates a decade since its release.
No More Stories... is promoted by the singles “Introducing Palace Players”, “Repeaterbeater”, “Beach”, and “Sometimes Life Isn’t Easy”. It displays a somewhat more “uplifting” yet quite sad area of the band’s life, most notably following the departure of bassist Johan Wohlert.
Despite the glaring change in style from And The Glass Handed Kites, there is still something so distinctly Mew about the record, in that no two songs sound quite the same. Not intermezzos 1 and 2, nor “Hawaii Dream” and “Hawaii”, nor “Silas the Magic Car” and its “Reprise”, nor even the “New Terrain” / “Nervous” pair - every track on the record has its own sound and place. Though the name may suggest otherwise, No More Stories... has many stories to tell through a wonderful collection of music. Here’s to another ten years.
one of my favourite albums just turned 10!!
