The Absence of Absence

Following Miu's comic, we have a lovely piece of poetry written by Aditya (edited by Zaine) which explores how upsetting and disheartening it can be to constantly be surrounded by over-sexualised & over-romanticised plotlines and content. This feeling of loneliness and doubt is exactly what we want to combat with our campaign; we want to create a-spec narratives and content so we, as a community, feel loved and accepted

This is for anyone who feels insecure and uncertain, scared there might be something wrong with them -- this is for our A-Spec family.

Media, especially in popular comics, has a long history of sexualising and objectifying female characters. Even powerful female characters are not exempt from this practice. We want to reimagine our favorite characters in more respectful designs.

Saffron has done just that with this stunning re-design of Starfire from DC's Teen Titans. This is a first in a hopefully long line of recreations that aim at de-bunking the 'sex sells' myth. Let characters be important without a need to sexualise them.
