Incorrect again. If it were animated entirely in house, it would take significantly longer due to animation in the US having a higher quality (compare the opening of the show to the show's actual animation to see what i mean), as well as the animators would all e spending their time animating the inbetweens and being unable to work on other things. With it being outsourced, they have more time to multitask. Outsourcing the animation saves both money and time.
If it were animated inhouse a lot of animators wouldn’t be jobless. That’s besides the point. Alex isn’t going to personally animate each frame regardless of whether is was animated here— other people would. Which they are. In Korea.
And you’re saying the U.S. has better quality animation than… what? anywhere else? That sounds more than a little insulting.
The opening is less than 30 seconds long. They can afford to give it the time and quality it needed to make that invaluable first impression on viewers. Most of it was done here, but it was also animated partially in Korea. (Opening animation deets here.)
I think you’re confusing time and money (though they do often go hand in hand.) Just because it’s cheaper for things to be animated overseas, doesn’t mean the time and effort put into it less valuable. (And that’s definitely a shame, because they should be paid better.)
And this conversation feels like it’s completely derailed from the original topic. Which is that animation, like the works of Gravity Falls, takes a lot of time. So fans just need to be a little patient and understanding.
