Semi hiatus (CW: Death)

This is really hard for me to say right now but I just wanted to get it out here before I went silent/minimal posting.

While I'm still working on the next chapter of Deer's Den, until further notice there will be a significant delay / semi hiatus overall as I've just lost a family member.

Despite working with such heavy themes in my work, admittedly, I've never had to process death, grief, or anything of the sort before.

And it hurts. God, it hurts.

It's going to be a long healing process. The loss was sudden and I thought I'd be ready for it. Amidst it I have other things to sort out with my life that are going to affect me long term, and I don't know if it'll affect my writing.

Until further notice, broadcasts will be semi halted as I recover, figure things out, and move forward with my life. I might still post if I'm able to keep writing; I have no intention of fully stopping this story.

It's just going to take a while for the next chapter, and to handle the heavy themes in the fanfic itself. I will post commissioned or gifted art whenever it rolls in, but story updates will be slow.

i've learned a lot about the new terms in the therian community in the past few months. i still don't know what word fits me best though, i just know i don't feel human (at all) and i identify as a bear and with bears and i have memories of being one too. i've always used therian, but is there a more specific or fitting term?

Any other black person feel like hanging out/ friends with mostly nonblacks especially white people made your internalized racism much worse growing up or is it just me? Like I feel like I don’t belong anywhere because of it and that I’m not “black enough” to hang out with other black people. (I know this is not true but that what I was told when I was younger) I would like to hear about your opinion and experience if it’s similar like this.

You know, I really did not want to be right about this. This situation is honestly a nightmare scenario: Roe falling and states prosecuting people for abortions or even helping someone get an abortion. The audacity to think that you know a stranger's body, choices, needs, and safety in every situation better than them. Making it so that anyone with a uterus has less rights than some cell tissue that fits into a petri dish or a corpse.

And that's why I fought so hard to get a hysto when I had the chance. I literally wanted a hysterectomy since I was 11 and have never wavered on that, because I did not trust the country not to do exactly this. People always told me I was overeacting, paranoid, etc. but I Knew.

So I got a hysto in my early 20s and have never regretted that decision. And so technically I'm safe from the immediate repercussions of this, but it has still shaped my life in significant ways. I never really had a choice - the possibility of facing down a forced birth was such an overwhelming trigger to even think about that if it had actually happened? I would not be here now.

With the benefit of time, I now think I could potentially have handled a voluntary pregnancy and had my own children if I could've guaranteed that it would be on my terms and mine alone. But that has never really been an option and it is very likely to get even worse soon. So I made the only choice I really could, which is to cut out these chains and unburden myself of both possibilities.

It is also worth noting that I had to fight hard for even this choice, because they worried I'd regret it at such a young age. But the reality is that while I was young, much younger people - children, even - have been forced to give birth, so why not allow a consenting adult, albeit a young one, make an equally serious decision? And in the end, I only got it because of my transness and disability, which says a lot about who they're willing to sterilize.

it’s Mother’s Day and almost one week since my Bubbie passed

i can’t even describe how much I miss her. i have so much to say about her, how much love she radiated, how kind and wise and silly as hell she was. how loved she made everyone around her feel. how there was never a single doubt in my mind she loved and supported me, and how proud she was of me.

if your grandma is still with you, give her a call or a hug for me. i’d give anything to see Bubbie again
