her shoulder shifts back, rolls halfway and then begins to protest, muscles refusing to work with her. juliet sighs, rolls her eyes a little bit, and bites off a frustrated groan, working at the back of her shoulder blade with her fingers as she does. her thumb digs into the base of her neck, offering little relief, and she tosses jackson a granola bar from her free hand, hidden up her sleeve.
“ thought you could use some company, ” she murmurs, “ and figured you needed to eat. ” she nods at the bar, raises her eyebrows pointedly, and then begins to scan the horizon while still working her shoulder back, trying to find the source of the knot. ( with her degree, you’d think she’d be a pro at this; it’s always easier on other people. ) “ anything we oughta be worried about ? ”
