The news of Jackson being back in town coinciding with the news that his father, the mayor, had been murdered was...quite a lot for Liza to digest in a short period of time. Especially with the rumors that were following the death of Raymond Ellis. He'd always been a decent enough man to her, was close with her grandfather, cordial to her father.... from the outside, he seemed picture-perfect (even though she knew his relationship with Jackson wasn't quite as perfect) so..all in all, it was a bit of a shock.
The last time she'd seen Jackson had been the night of the Valentine's ball, where he'd upset her and also seemed to be goading Wes. And the last time she'd been to his house had been years ago, when they'd still been a couple and she thought he was the one. Fast-forward to two years later, and everything was different. She still hadn't forgiven him for what he'd done to her, and Liza would probably never actually trust him again. She was happy now too, happier than ever, and it had nothing to do with him. She was with Wes now, she was pregnant now, and honestly a big part of her wondered why she was even here, having even made a cake no less, but...as much as she still didn't really like Jackson, she knew the distinct pain of losing a parent, and with the rumors floating that people even thought Jackson was the culprit, well...she kind of wanted to check on him.
Because he broke her heart sure. He was unfaithful and immature and a downright asshole at times, but he certainly wasn't a murderer. And as strained as the relationship had been, he'd still lost his father. So here Liza was, cakebox in hand, and she let out a breath before she knocked on the door, biting her lip as he appeared moments later. "Hi Jack."
