@maljefe / unprompted / loni & ash
there's an eerie silence on her end, as if she was waiting to ensure no one was around. "ash..." his name sounds beautiful on her tongue. as if it were a holy word and she the preacher. "i, um..." a bang jolts her and a shuffling is heard before several people begin yelling. "don't come looking for me...! please! ash please don't... I'll come back! shi- GET BACK!" a grunt and scream follows as the sound of a bone snapping echoes. "i won't be me... it won't be me when i come back! but please give me time! i'll be okay. i'm always okay!" someone hollers out for help and it's only then that the phone goes flying across the floor.
"this bitch! how did she have this we took her phone i thought!"
"it doesn't matter get rid of it before they track it!"
a scuffle can be heard along with the sound of a gun going off followed by the thud of a body hitting the ground. "... ash... i lov... you... please... be safe..." after that the message cuts off and the phone dead.
❛ be safe? huh. ❜ he asks, hand limply holding the phone before it sinks down to his side heavily, dangles there for a solid few moments before he clenches his hand, barely has to exert pressure to have the entire thing broken in his hand. he wants to think losing loni has driven him to insanity, but he’s been insane before. this didn’t feel like it. maybe he’s finally grown sane. his other hand barely moves, twists when he feels blood spray over his face. oops. arteries. right. ❛ you hear that, pal? she wants me to be safe. ❜ the only response he gets to that is a sickening gurgle and he feels like laughing. perhaps, at a much later date, he’d feel guilty. technically the only crime this guy committed was owning the very best equipment for tracking someone down in town - well, right after the government. but ash is neither in the mood nor does he have the time to deal with the feds. he’s playing nice, though. doesn’t draw it out and simply uses the opening to plunge his hand into the mans chest to rip it out. it’s a swift death, one of the fastest he’s ever granted. especially when he gives the organ the same treatment as he had his phone. blood smears over his face, but the most he bothers to do is kneel down almost casually, one arm resting over his knee.
the other rummages through the mans pockets, finds his keys. good. he’s stolen the blueprints before and it took little more than two glances to find out where exactly he’s stashed his equipment. the rest of it, that is. ash is anything but a fool; he’s already hooked up his phone to the mans pc the moment he entered the mansion. before the man even knew he was here. he lets out an amused chuckle, feels the same flash of anger he did when he finally decided that enough was enough. that his torment in the lab was to be over. except this time it is much, much more personal to him. more important. maybe the simple program on a more public pc wasn’t enough to properly track the call, but it was enough to give him a decently less large circle of possible locations. still big, but much less than half the damn world. good thing he trusts loni, else he might not have anticipated her to find a way to call him. but if he knows anyone as stubborn as can be it’s her and that alone carried him through preparations in hopes of hearing her call him. be safe, huh ... bold words, given that the only reason he stayed alive had been ripped away from him. and where he had been angry at the loss of his freedom, the loss of loni was much more bitter, fiery. if it meant taking apart the whole country so be it. he’d walk over mountains of corpses if it meant he got to find her. bring her back. matters of his morality where an entirely different thing. if she would hate him for all the things he was doing & going to do, so be it. but she could hate him after she was safely back home.
❛ good thing ash isn’t the one looking for you, then. ❜ he mutters, tracing a finger over the broken pieces of his phone, smile turning just a little more cruel. yes... ash was gone, for now at least. gone the moment he’d found out about lonis disappearance. if she didn’t want ash to look for her, fine. then ck 01-2931 would have to get the job done. good. fine with him.
