The speedster knew he had caught Caitlin off guard, knew she was trying her best to avoid the uninteresting conversations; lips curving into a small grin. Sealing some of the space between himself and the woman, Barry extended a hand and retrieved his own glass of champagne. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” He apologized, sincerely, thankful she hadn’t spilled her drink all over herself. Otherwise, they’d be having a completely different conversation.
“That’s the funny thing about Cisco,” Barry began, taking a small sip of his drink. “He tends to conveniently catch the flu whenever he wants to get out of something.” Although, he was teasing. Cisco really had had the virus and was sick. Taking another small sip of his drink, he sighed, chest deflating. “I was avoiding too. So, you’re not the only guilty party.”
It wasn’t that Barry was antisocial, it was just that he wasn’t up for small talk at a wedding. “Cisco promised you a dance?” His interest suddenly spiked because if anyone should be enjoying themselves, it should’ve been Caitlin.
