On the Job | CLOSED | Freya and Alice
Alice stepped onto the scene, her black boots crushing ash beneath her step. The scene was layed out before her; a house over half destroyed by fire, curse burnt bricks and wood splintered by hexes. Four bodies lay on the ground with sheets pulled across them; it wasn’t hard to tell which were parents and which their children. Alice swallowed a lump in her throat. Crime scenes with children involved had never been easy; but since having Neville they had become even harder.
A file was handed to her, barely a few pages thick. “Not much on them, Auror Longbottom,” a newly graduated auror told her. With pursed lips, she nodded her head. Flicking through the file, she paused, reading for a moment. “There’s a witness?” she asked.
“Yes, a muggle neighbour-- she’s in her house with an obliviator, they’ve been told to hold off until you’ve spoken to the witness,” they responded.
Pulling her coat closer to her body ( not that she needed too, the heat was still palpable in the ruins ) she stepped through the scene, after carefully looking around for a few minutes, she looked out. “Okay, keep cataloguing the scene - bag anything you think may be useful. I’m going to talk to the witness and then so a walk through,” she instructed. “And if the muggle police turn up, get me immediately,” she added. Although every measure had been put in place to make sure that the muggle police wouldn’t even hear about the incident; that didn’t mean accidental cross overs between both forces had occured in the past.
“Which way?” she asked, looking out at the row of houses.
The new order pointed to the right house. She closed the distance between her and the house quickly and made fast work of the steps. With a rap on the door, she entered searching out the witness and the obliviator. It was in the kitchen that she found them. Alice almost did a double take when she saw Freya; though she wasn’t sure why. She had known the other woman was an obliviator, and it wasn’t rare that both obliviator’s and auror’s worked together on occasion. Perhaps it was that once, Freya had been one of Alice’s closest friends, and now she wasn’t.
Ever the professional, Alice placed a smile on her lips. “Sorry to interupt, I’m the investigator of the incident you witnessed and I’d like to ask you some questions,” she introduced herself to the situation and more importantly the muggle. “Alice Longbottom,” she clarified.
