where: DMLE who: Barty Crouch Jr. and Alice Longbottom ( @wonderlxngbottom )
Sebastian’s death should have left Barty shaken. A fellow young Death Eater, killed in cold blood by the hands of the Order. Someone Barty has reasons to believe was compromised. One wrong move and it could have been him, catching the Unforgivable Killing Curse.
But it wasn’t.
Barty would like to believe that he never made the wrong move.
Now he was back to work. Working for the Minister, he was pushed hard as ever. There were statements to be made. Questions to answer. Department Heads to be notified about changes that should be made to support Bagnold’s statement about her disproval of the Order. He was on his way to the DMLE now when he bumped into a face he’s been seeing around but never really talked to. His cousin’s. “Is your boss here?” he asked.
Alice had the case file from the illegal magical creature trader murder open on the desk. Notes were scribbed on the backs of crime scene photo’s, stuck onto the paperwork with sticking notes. A large mug of coffee sat half drank on the desk, haphazardly placed on a coaster so that the drink wouldn’t mark the expensive wood. Hearing a voice, she looked up, immediately putting her quill back onto the ink pot. Surprise pulled her brows up. She hadn’t seen Barty in... she couldn’t even recall. Even though they worked in the same place, it was rare they came across one another. She was always in her department or on the scene. Most of the time, she went out and grabbed lunch and brought it back to the office, unless she was popping by to see Neville.
Her cousin stood before her. Immediately, Alice stood up, moving behind her chair and pushing it in. “Barty,” she said his name with surprise. She wasn’t sure if she was happy or sad to see him. But she didn’t let that swirl within her, instead she addressed the question that had been directed at her. “He’s just gone out for lunch. He should be back in ten minutes or so, though,” she told him. An unopened sandwich sat on her desk, waiting to be eaten. “Do you want to leave a message with me? Or wait?” she asked.
