Random thoughts about abortion.
I’m thinking about my daughter, and a hypothetical unwanted pregnancy. If she asked for an abortion, I would absolutely give my consent. I would find a way to get my child to a clinic. Because that is her choice to make.
I’m also thinking about myself. If someone broke into my house and raped me, and I became pregnant, I would want an abortion.
The amount of guilt I feel over admitting that (thanks, evangelical upbringing) is monumentally unfair.
In both these scenarios, you know who isn’t burdened with having to make this kind of decision? Who isn’t left to suffer any social or religious consequences?
