Jealous Norman Bates Headcanons

A/n- wrote these up pretty quick, ii still hope folks like em tho :3

tw for some derogatory terms at the end !! (the word wh*re is used ONCE). also negative self talk

Gender Neutral Reader

generally, norman is not a jealous person. and when he is? doesn't show it. he's very mild mannered, and it's very rarely that he breaks out from that. most common occurrences of this would actually be "mother" and not his usually self

he doesn't show jealousy the way most of the other slashers do- which shows up in an almost aggressive protectiveness.

Norman tends to shy away and hide.

There isn't much use of jealousy most times- the motel doesn't get very many people, and it's not all the time his partner hits it off so well with a guest...

For Norman, he's never really had close friends or been in relationships before you- so he's well aware he's not necessarily something people want.

he can't help the ugly nagging feelings though. his own self worth and insecurities clouding any reason.

" it's probably better if you leave him anyways " he thinks.

there were surely better looking, and stronger, and kinder men than him. he's nothing but an oddball that owns a motel.

He doesn't really tell you that your interactions with a certain guest make him uncomfortable. he's never a very forward person.

but he does still have little tells to show that he's actually upset, despite the fact he can't / won't communicate about it.

he'll be quieter when you talk with him.

he'll work the front desk and have you do more "background" work- cleaning rooms, laundry, etc.

sometimes you'll catch the signs in time, and after a long day of work, you'll sit with him in ur shared home. quick sandwiches and milk prepared. sitting down and cautiously taking norman's hands in urs, looking in his eyes. to which he more often than not tries shying away from. averting his gaze.

"Norman," you say. Voice soft and chilling. You can feel your boyfriend's hands quietly shake in yours, as he waits in his nervousness. "Norman, love, please look."

He looks up, his dark eyes boring into yours with uncertainty.

You take one hand from Norman's, and gently cups his face. Your eyes appear softened and sad, "What's wrong?"

Norman tries looking off, and you simply guide his eyes back to yours. He replies, in a hushed tone, "the man you were talking to earlier," he trails.

"Love, there's nothing to worry about. I'd never lay a finger on another soul- you know that, no?"

He nods, leaning into your touch. Cheeks dusted in pink.

"Good, now let's eat, alright? I'm sure you're hungry from working at the front all day." You peck a kiss against his cheek, settling back down- removing your hand from Norman's face. He smiles at you with sparkling eyes. He returns the gesture with a half hug across the table.

another way this may go instead, is "mother" will snap at you.

when things get to that point- it's much harder to calm him down and get to a point you can explain things.

for when "mother" comes out, she often says things along the line of "her boy shouldn't have to deal with such a WHORE" (the implied cheating)

not only is it hard for norman in these episodes, it can also really affect uu- even if uu try not to let it get to uu. cause even if its not really norman thats saying it to uu, it sure /looks/ like he is.

will sometimes need time apart after these. lots of reassuring affirmation that uu still love him after all of that tho !!

at the end of the day, even if feelings of jealousy get in the way at times- ur each other's light in the dark and would never do a thing to part from ur love <3

“Benny. She’s not into you.” Benny jumped up, wondering how the fuck you got behind him so quickly.

“Uh- Yes she is, she looked at me. In a way.” You facepalmed at your brother’s comment, amazed at how naive he was.

“Sometimes you just gotta let a girl do her thing.”

“Well if I do that, they won’t notice me. Duh.”

“Then maybe that means you’re not her type. Duh, you fucking idiot.” You laughed at the look on his face, a look of pure shock and betrayal.

“Wow, Y/N. Supportive much?”

“Always. Oh shit, it looks like your buddy’s coming over here. Gotta go.”

Benny turned around, knowing it was Rory. You’d never run from Ethan like that, he was like your second brother. 

“Where’s she going?” Asked Rory, watching as you sped walked down to the cafeteria. 

“Who knows, Rory. What’s up?”

“Well I kinda wanted to invite your sister to the movies.”

“Oh, gross dude.”

You walked into your house, greeting your grandma as she left to play bingo. As soon as you got in your room, you pulled out your laptop and began chatting with Sarah and Erica. Erica wasn’t really saying anything, most likely eating someone.

The conversation was a boring one, something about Geometry, homework and other boring things no one wanted to hear about. You closed your laptop after saying goodbye to the girls, and put on your slippers. You went downstairs to get a cold glass of water, before you were stopped by Benny running up the stairs. 

“Y/N, RUN!” You ran all the way back up to your room, absolutely ready to kill anything or anyone that was in this house. You went to your closet and grabbed a baseball bat, ready to defend yourself. 

But nothing happened. Benny and you sat in silence for twenty awkward seconds before your door was knocked on gently. It opened, and you swung your bat before you could see who it was.

“OH MY GOD, Y/N.”

“OH MY GOD BENNY, THAT WAS YOUR FRIEND. OH MY GOD.” 

Rory was spread out on the floor, rubbing his head, but got up quickly when he remembered vampires can heal quickly.

“ARE YOU OKAY?!” You got to his side, and asked if he needed ice. He declined as Benny snickered to himself.

“What were you even doing here?!?” You demanded as Benny passed him a glass of water, while he sat on the couch like nothing happened.

Benny gave you wide eyes, as if to say, “Why would you ask that?”

And you were met with the reason just a second later.

“Well I wanted to ask you out-”

“You’re fine now, right?” You grabbed his arm and led him to the door, with the glass still in hand.

“Goodnight, Robert.” You slammed the door in his face, trying to push off the guilt. But no way you’d go out with him. 

“Robert? That’s a new one.” Benny couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.

“This is all your fault, why did you make his appearance such a big deal?”

“He scared me.”

“Wow, thank god you’re so brave.”
