Thursday Thoughts. 💜🖤
We are our own dragons and our own heroes. We must rescue ourselves from ourselves.

Random Card Draw - Eight of Swords - Robin Wood Tarot
This is one of my favorite decks; I love the artwork. The Eight of Swords shows a young woman on a stormy beach. The water is choppy, and there are gray clouds overhead. A fortress or castle is seen in the distance.
The woman's dress is ragged; she's been through hard times. it looks a lot like a nightgown, as if she was kidnapped in the middle of the night. She's blindfolded and her arms are bound, but she's just standing on the beach; perhaps her captors left her there and told her not to move, then made their escape?
Eight long swords with fancy hilts are stuck in the sand around her. Are they a threat, or a sign of protection?
The booklet gives the meaning of this card as 'fear, bondage, paralysis due to indecision, censure, illness, difficulties.'
My personal opinion is that the young woman's struggles are ending. Her fear doesn't have to continue. There may be storm clouds overhead, but the rays of light breaking through are a symbol of hope, and the puddles on the beach show the tide is receding. She seems almost trapped by the swords, but she really isn't; nothing holds her there, she could walk away if she chose to. If she could summon the courage to explore her surroundings, she would feel the swords. She could cut her bonds with some careful movement against one of the blades.
'Paralysis due to indecision' is quite understandable. Which of us hasn't at one time or another struggled with a choice - what do I do? Which path do I take? I can imagine that the young woman feels like this; does she stay where she is and avoid stumbling into more danger, or does she try to get away?
Her freedom is close, if she would just have courage and take a chance. The swords could harm her or help her, depending on her actions. I like to think she'll cut her bonds and take up one of the swords for herself.
That's the lesson I take from this card: you may have been through hard times, difficulties may surround you, but don't lose hope. Have courage, explore the tools that may already be within your reach.
I dont know who needs to hear this but
we as women need to take back our power. we need to work together and make things right in the world
While “Rescue Me” is so far my fave of this Murica era, don’t misunderstand me, I still just barely like it.
He needs to stop talking to Zedd and the Chainsmokers and stop listening to Taylor and Halsey and the like - if these are the influences showing themselves in this new “work”.
Hoooow is it that the man who wrote “Night of the Hunter” and “Fallen” and “R-evolve” wrote these songs too? This new shit all has the same words, all the same sentiments; they repeat the same damn phrases over and over just to baaarely fill 3 minutes of meh. It’s legit embarrassing to imagine these songs took more than 20 minutes to create. Let alone years.
I hate to think it, but it’s honestly like he’s lost his creativity and is just churning stuff out to churn stuff out.
Where is the complexity? The wordplay and imagery? Each set of lyrics is repetitive and disappointing. Nothing makes me want to take the song apart and think about what the writer was going through at the time they were writing it. Nothing notable stays with you. It’s like eating junk food. You consumed something quickly and it was unremarkable. In a few hours you forget you ate it. Not saying every song needs to be like super deep and complex (I mean, my god, Gaga is like my fave person ever and most of her songs are not Dostoyevsky by any means) but these songs Leto’s releasing are trying to be serious and thoughtful and deep. And they’re just...not. And worse, he thinks they are? And even more worse, he seems to be clinging to some concept that they’re about America and the “times we’re living in” when 1) they’re general enough to actually sound like they’re about nothing and 2) also (all) allegedly written 5-8 years ago? So... what is it?
At this point, it seems like a desperate ploy of a man nearing his late-40s to finally really break (pander to) the US market so he’s not having to tour Russia when he’s 55 years old. So he can do a simple US tour, make some money close by when he needs it, and move on. It’s so obvious. And it’s depressing.
Anyways.
Learned this the hard way...
Rescue yourself, lovelies!! 💜
I am confident, I am capable, and I will not wait to be rescued by a woodsman or a hunter.
