One day Bubba and I were walking to school when these two little puppies came running out of nowhere to us. then they proceeded to follow us all the way to the school. Then the dark brindle colored one started crying as Bubba went in to the school. Then the two pups proceeded to follow me home. Basically they followed me for about 25 minutes. I went inside expecting them to leave, but to my surprise they were hiding out on the back patio all day. Every time I would go out they would run out of their hiding spots and lick my toes. We decided that we would take care of them until Friday when we would then take them to an animal shelter. (These dogs were DEFINITELY strays or they were not being taken care of AT ALL by their owner, in which case they needed new homes.) So Bubba named them. The brown one was Brownie and the brindle one is Zib.
Neto cleaned them up and removed the ticks, etc. We kept waiting for them to go back home but they didn't. Eventually Brownie, who was always more adventurous and preferred to be outside, left and never came back. Zib on the other hand had decided he found his home.
By the end of the first day he learned how to sit by the door to tell us he had to go out, he learned how to sit, because that means we're going to feed him, and learned how to get in the cage when I needed to leave the house. AND now Mo is on his absolute behavior. And since things were going so well we decided we would give it a little time and see how it works out. So far it's been fantastic. I've always been wary of owning more than one dog, but he's such a good dog! And he's really already adopted us as his family as well. So much so that he stands on guard and barks if he sees other people or dogs pass the house. And ever since he came to our house, about a week and half ago, he has yet to even leave the yard. He goes out, unleashed, does his business, and then sits quietly at the door until we let him in. He doesn't even cry when we put him in the cage at night. PLUS, he adores Mo and the two of them wrestle throughout the day, wearing each other out, so I don't have to.
Mo doesn't cry when we leave the house any more, and the two of them are getting along great. So for now at least it's a match made in Heaven, and he'll be staying with us. Plus I have visions of him and Bubba being BFFs, and how cute it'll be when he tells people how one day he followed him to school.
