Fabric Passport
I found this very hard to do, since I actually don't really know what the behavior of different fabrics are. So I tried to use materials that I have a very clear connotation with myself, what I found suitable.

The making/process of the print
Personal agreement - 5 is very enthusiastic, but with my collection you can make combinations so that will easily be five.
The main goal of the video will be to be inspirational, to look at it and be happy with almost a nostalgic feeling (because dancing seems already so long ago, that when looking at old video’s of it makes me feel nostalgic. In a kind of sad way but it also gives me a lot of strength to go through this, because we will stand there again)
Working on logo - inspiration from Woodstock 1969 (ofcourse). I think it could look really cool to have this logo in contrast with the hypermodern animations. I’ve never seen that beforee actually..!
Forgot to post: about three weeks ago. When I was having a major creative block I started to dance and film myself. Danced on Prince, to techno to classical music. Really got what I wanted: I saw the colors in my head and got that “dance high”. After this the creative process went on a roll.
Plus: This was also at the point where my concept got a little bit more shape, during my concept check resit. In the first draft of the concept I was talking about the symbols of different ancient cultures.I still want to use symbols in my collection, but without making a link to a culture because this complicated the concept a lot. I wanted to create my own symbols. I paused myself when I was in a cool/expressive pose, and with only a few lines tried to translate it into a symbol. I think this could be very cool for a print.
I need to do some tryouts with this to see if it can work for a print.
First Designs:
-> Both the knit and the layers underneath it are made form thermocromic fibers. (the pink stains suggest the color changing, though this is probably not how it looks! -> the under layer (for instance the bodysuit on look 1) is inspired by dance clothing. Very stretchy, thin. (will post research about this later on!)
For first designs I like them, and wonder what feedback I will get tomorrow. BUT: still a lot of things need to be thought of - how to implement the aspect of touching each other? need the knitted pieces be in a convenient place for that? - is this even possible to make? The sky is the limit for me but maybe my teachers can tell me where to stop. - how to make this in a sustainable way? (I think I still want to do it digital, but I really want to make it physical to see what the effects might be etc).
Thermochromic inks have the property to change color with temperature. In the mid-sixties, laboratories started to develop thermochromic liquid crystal mat...
Article research Thermocromic fabrics:
Here they do it with a hot wire, bluetooth ( very very very nice and inspiring)
Saturday night experiments + inspiration
With the thought of thermocromic yarn I started playing with the idea of something knitted, like a sleeve, very transparent. I think the final yarn will look more like the blue experiment.
What I really liked about it is that it has a lot of imperfections. It gives it the playfulness that fits the dance and the entire concept. Just very dynamic and chaotic but at the same time sort of choreographed.
Sidenote: I have no idea if I have to knit it by hand, or of there is a machine that can help me with this. Aks teachers!!
