Posted @withregram • @tarasolomon When I saw “American Bombshell,” the artwork behind me, in a gallery in Wynwood 15 years ago, before Wynwood became Wynwood, I knew it was destined to be mine. 👩🏻‍🦳 A hand-stitched collage of original film posters on paper under plexiglass, the piece wove elements of feminism w/ pop culture cinematic icons. 👩‍🦰 “What if someone came along who changed the lives of half the world? Woman without shame!” the work boldly queried. 👩🏽‍🦰 The work’s artist, @eveeurydice, is as fascinating as her subjects. Born on Lesbos, Greece, Eurydice is a published author, multi-media artist, multi-modal scholar, podcaster, journalist, advocate, archivist + mother. 👩🏾‍🦰 She is the author of three widely respected + translated books —Satyricon USA (Scribner), f/32: The Second Coming (Virago) + f/32. She’s the host + creator of Speak Sex with Eve podcast, now in season 3, online every Friday at 2pm on Jolt Radio. 👧🏻 Eurydice’s art employs ancient crafts including scribal writing + embroidery that fuse her Eastern + Western heritages w/ female-identified crafts— “to recover and reclaim the suppressed truths the patriarchy was constructed to hide.” 👧🏽 Her art practice connects her to hundreds of generations of silenced women for whom she speaks. We just donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. These three pups never had the pleasure of meeting their human grandma. She lost her battle against breast cancer at the age of 60.
