do you have any advice on choosing a berkeley residence hall? I'm concerned about listing the units as top preference because I've heard they can get pretty noisy but I've also heard other halls like foothill can be kinda far from the rest of campus and berkeley's social life.
Hey there! I didn’t get a notification for this question and a few others for some reason so hopefully this reply is not too late. I currently live in a Unit 2 mini-suite, which is a bit further for campus, but definitely worth it.
If you prefer the quiet, don’t be afraid to put Foothill as your top choice. My roommate persuaded me to be more social and choose the units, but I find that I really don’t like the noise. Choose what you feel is best for you, and don’t worry about how you “should” be social.
Foothill is closer to the north side of campus, which is mainly academic buildings instead of food and fun. If you don’t mind going a bit further for those, it’s not a problem. BearTransit is pretty easy to navigate, and a walk never hurts. Also, Foothill is close enough to the Greek Theatre that you can pretty much attend free concerts on the lawn! Hope that helps!
