Ethical norms are important for research
This seems obvious, yet those doing research are held accountable to uphold ethical norms. It’s important, especially because ethical norms insure that researchers are being honest to the public. As Resnik says, ethical norms also promote public support because of the level of transparency involved with ethical norms.

Basics
I just want to remember to do my research and walk into these events and interviews like that kid who remembered to bring his reusable bag to the store...is that too much for a girl to ask for?
I think ethics are a must when interviewing people and attending their events. I want to do my heavy research and then come in without bias and just genuinely get to know what they stand for and how they practice civic civil discourse. Confidentiality is key when dealing with things like the engagement guide. I am new to all this group work on a major project so i really need to stay on top of what is ethical in certain journalism aspects of what we are doing. One good thing is we will be working closely with one another on this and I am pretty sure that I will be guided in the right direction with all of it.

The Big Bang Theory - Season 7, Episode 6
Reading Resnik’s article about making ethical decisions in research reminded me of this scene from “The Big Bang Theory.” The scene’s premise even shares similarities with one of the sample cases that illustrates an ethical dilemma in Resnik’s article. When this scene occurs, Sheldon Cooper has discovered a new element and that same element was soon found. Just as Sheldon is relishing and anticipating in his upcoming fame and fortune, he discovers that he made a mistake within the process of his discovery which completely changes how he feels about his success.
Resnik would appreciate this scene as well as Sheldon’s reaction to his mistake since not only does Sheldon acknowledge that mistake, but it portrays how an ethical dilemma could happen.
