Look who's sitting up unassisted! He's been doing it all week and I just finally got it on video. He loves scooting around, sitting up (and usually giggling with delight) and playing for a while while sitting, then getting down and scooting some more, often over to the ottoman to pull up to his knees or sometimes to his feet.
My favorite part of it is that he can get into and out of the sitting position independently, without relying on me for help. I don't worry about him toppling over because he has built the balance and coordination he needs to catch himself (or at least break his own fall). It's amazing to watch him fall. He winces and sort of rolls to his back as he is falling.
Of course each child is on his or her own timetable but I'm amazed at what unassisted freedom of movement has done for him. And so much earlier than I would have expected. Natural gross motor development for the win 😄
Read more about why we chose to avoid sitting/propping him up here. And then why we will avoid standing him up and ”walking” him (such as by his arms).
