St George Mining Limited (ASX: SGQ): Strengthening Leadership at Araxá with Key Geological Appointment 🇧🇷⛏️
St George Mining has strengthened its in-country leadership with the appointment of Ms Carla Grasso as Principal Geologist for the Araxá Rare Earths–Niobium Project in Brazil.
Ms Grasso brings more than 21 years of experience in Brazil’s mining industry, including 15 years at the Araxá phosphate mine operated by Mosaic, located adjacent to St George’s project in the Barreiro Carbonatite complex. Her expertise spans resource modelling, reserve estimation, mine development and operational geology.
Importantly, Ms Grasso is highly credentialled in international reporting standards — including JORC (2012), US SK-1300 and NI 43-101 — and is recognised as a Qualified Person under AusIMM and CBRR, strengthening the technical capacity supporting the development of Araxá.
The appointment comes shortly after St George announced a major resource upgrade at Araxá, which lifted the project to 70.91Mt of TREO and 95.47Mt of niobium, reinforcing its status as a globally significant rare earths and niobium asset.
With economic studies now accelerating, Ms Grasso will play a key role in mine planning, pit optimisation, reserve estimation and geometallurgical assessment as St George advances toward potential mine development.
