For #WisdomWednesday we bring you this alternative feeding method. Did you know that breastfeeding could look like this?!?!? This method is typically used when babies are having difficulty breastfeeding due to prematurity, tongue tie or other atypical circumstances. You need to hold your baby in an upright position and gently syringe no more than 0.2 millilitres into your baby's mouth at a time. Feed the milk in between their gum & cheek or onto their tongue. Allow your baby to swallow before giving them another 0.2 millilitres and continue to do this until the feed has ended. If you are experiencing issues with breastfeeding please reach out to a qualified Lactation Consultant or an IBCLC. They can help you with direct feeding and if that is still an issue they can assist with alternative feeding methods such as this!!!! You are not alone! Find your village and reach out for help. 💪🥛⭐️ #normalizebreastfeeding #breastfeedingsupport #respectfulmaternitycare #njdoulas (at Wise Birth Choices Doula Services)
