The first years of my life where spent in the home of my grandparents. Everyone knows how much my grandmother shaped my life but not many know how much my grandfathers mere presence shaped my life. He didn't say a lot and I never heard him raise his voice, so when he spoke I listened. I can often remember him doing his morning exercises well before sunrise while humming some tune. He was always a calm and consistent presence in my life. As a kid I would sit near him while he watched baseball even though I had no interest what so ever lol. It was just comforting being in his presence. Thank you for your presence granddad. Thank you for your service and thank you for your consistent calmness in my life.
