Laced down to 35 inches. Un-corseted 39". Goal 30".
Hi Lucy, a while ago you did a review of a restyle corset which made me want to get one because they're so inexpensive, but when I went to order it off of their website, there were some problems. For example, there was no place to put in a state on the delivery address and the second line of the address (where you normally put a apartment number) was required and since I live in a house, I was confused by that. What I'm asking is did you have similar problems ordering from them?
Hello! Yes, I remember that it wasn’t accepting my postal code because it contained both numbers and letters (I’m in Canada) so I simply emailed Ewelina and asked for the order to be filled manually. She got back to me within a day or two. :)
hey Lucy! I've just ordered the restyle wide hips corset in brocade, but I'm worried about there being no waist tape in the corset. I'll be using to both train my ribs and as part of a costume, so I was wondering if it's possible to add an invisible waist tape? thanks! :)
Hello! An invisible waist tape, no (well, not without a lot of effort). For it to be invisible, you’d need to draft another layer of the corset so you have two layers for the waist tape to be sandwiched between. The corset itself is two completely fused layers which is treated as one in the construction process; it can’t easily be separated. But I know several people who have simply stitched a waist tape to the inside of the corset and it’s worked fine. :)
Hey Lucy! I'm wondering if you can help me? I'm thinking about buying the Restyle wide hips corset. The horizontal measurements fit mine p. much perfectly, but I'm concerned about the length. I know the front is 12 inches, but my underbust to lap is ~10-11 inches. I know sometimes a long center front can be distributed in a way that still makes them okay for short torsos, but I'm not sure if this is the case here. I just want to make sure I'll be able to sit down! Any insight greatly appreciated
Hello! It’s just the center front of the corset that’s 12 inches long - where the top edge contours up into that “point” at the sternum, and dips down over the pubic bone. At the “princess seam” though, which is where I have people measure from under the bust to the top of the lap while sitting, this part measures only 9 inches long on the Restyle - so you should be able to sit down comfortably in it! :) You just might not be able to cross your legs while wearing it because of the length, but that’s all. And I find that longline corsets discourage you from crossing your legs anyway, as it helps to keep your hips level.
My restyle wide hips underbust came a few days ago! I’ve only got it cinched 1-2 inches here because it’s my first wear but I love the shape already. It doesn’t come with a waist tape so the first thing I did was add one. In theory it will need gores or something at the hips as mine are (quite a bit) bigger than the corset measures. However at the moment there’s quite a bit of space in the hips so I’m going to season and wait and see. It’s incredibly comfortable! Even though it’s brand new and very firm it doesn’t pinch or feel too stiff or anything. I have a short waist but this fits fine as the corset dips low under the breasts (on me it sits directly under them but on most people I’ve seen it dips lower leaving a small gap) and it goes a bit higher at the back which should help stop muffining :)
One thing about this corset is that it seems to vary in it’s measurements. I’ve seen quite a few reviews where the waist has been considerably bigger than it’s advertised size (usually a bit over an inch) but luckily my 30” corset measures just a teeny bit over that, maybe 30.25” at the most. The top and bottom edges of the corset have an 8 inch rib and 14 inch hip spring respectively. But this is different from both Restyles size chart and lucy-corsetry 's Lace-base so again it seems that the corset measurements do vary from piece to piece and I may have gotten lucky in that it's a bigger difference between ribs/hips and waist.
I’ll take more photos and share more thoughts as my seasoning progresses :)
