The Prop Masters on Glee did a BAD-BAD-THING! ...or maybe Rachel and Santana were liars?

A TALE OF PLAGIARISM My discover came about after I saw what I think was a trainwreck of an episode: "Goodbye" 

I have only know Glee for a year (began watching two weeks before the show ended) so I wanted to know what people were thinking at the time back in 2012.  I found reaction videos on YouTube and read forums....But I remained very angry that Rachel got in to NYADA  and Kurt initially did not...I do know we got a total bullshit reason Madame Tibideaux gave in season four and that too really pissed me off because yes it was total bullshit and worse it was also retcon - then worse than that it was retcon wrapped in really contrived writting...Where Rachel winning the right to be at The crème de la crème Winter's Showcase - then getting an encore performance and then going onto winning the actual Showcase...please....and all because Glee has to justify Madame Tibidueax even considuring Rachel over Kurt ...But then what was written in the TVTropes Headscatching blog as *THE* explanation really takes the cake.  The reason given was all the stuff on Rachel's RESUME and that she was captain of 14 clubs (like that has been total crap since Mattress in season 1) and all that community theater experience (see Sectionals season 1 - That was crap too)- So if some one wants to say this then the resume, all the clubs and the community theater ...The claim needs a second look...this was where the Journey took me

Notice above in the image that there is no club stuff on it - well other than Glee - But what stuck out for me was a lot of plays that were just not age/content appropriate for Rachel - Finding out about those plays is what lead me to discover that Rachel's Resume was flat out Plagerized!

Now lets look at the theater from K. Tupper's (an actual real-life person and a profesional Vocal Coach) resume (ages here are only aprox and based solely on Tupper being a 1995 High School grad)

One might think Rachel could have just performed the same plays...Well no. Blue Nocturne, China Dolls and Fantasticks are not suitble plays for Rachel; drugs & adult themes/ Luisa in Fantasticks is 20 not 5 - And sticking out like a sore thumb is the fact that The Hurbst Theater is located San Francisco...then just looking at it you know it's been copied!

And then this was not the only thing that got copied

(copied elsewhere from K. Tupper's Resume) Singing: (20+ years - of Private Voice Training) Classical, Musical Theater, Jazz, Pop, Rock (teachers were named but omitted here for their's and Tupper's privacy) Official member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (NATS) - VP of Recitals 

Notice in Rachel's resume TPTB simply dropped the T for Teaching from NATS and made up an association NAS which doesn't exist.

(Rachel's) Teaching Experience: (when was Rachel ever a teacher?) Have Conducted Vocal Workshops in a Choral Setting Private Voice Teacher since 2010 (Allen County, Ohio) (Well, there was that  kid Finn knew in Laryngitis S1E18) Actress/Educator around the country for people of all ages and diversities from 2010-2011 Worked with and Mentored At-Risk Youth 2009-2012 Private Elementary and Junior High School Tutor from 2009-2010 Dance: Basic skills Piano: Basic skills (Do people remember Rachel doesn't play?)

Again ALL the above points used in Rachel's resume were lifted almost word-for-word from Tupper's resume (changing only dates, cities, etc)...One of Tupper's points on her resume about being a Camp Counselor also ended up elsewhere on Rachel's resume under Extraculicular Activities - I mean damn, does Tupper know her resume has been plagiarized ?

Near as I can find Tupper didn't work for Glee.

When they changed 20 into a 15 for private voice training they did not take into consideration that Rachel was only 16 in the Mash Off episode (Rachel's DOB is 12/18/1994 and Mash Off is circa November 2011) No vocal coach worth their salt would not start teaching vocal lessons with a child until the voice/vocalcords had began to mature (3-5 years old at the absolute earliest) There are lots of reasons why vocal coaches do not take children younger than 5 but the main reason is a child's vocal cords are very delicate and begining to sing too early can cause permanite damage.  Doting fathers with any musical training would never risk doing this to their only child If a admissions board saw this it would raise red flags because 15+ years priviate lessons for a 16 year old AND without any of the name(s) given for verification is unheard of.  It screams resume fraud.  K. Tupper includes her instructors/and their credentials...Because any college/casting director would want to know who the private instructor(s) was/were and if they have a degree, or what experience they had in preparing students)

Here's what Kurt's vocal profile would look like only his would be canon KURT Vocal Fach: Countertenor/Lyric Tenor  Vocal Range A2 - G5 Vocal Style: Clasical/Modern Theater Languages:  English, French, Spanish, German, ASL Diction English, French, Spanish, German,

Canon in that Kurt was actually seen taking Spanish (S1E8 "Mash-Up" - S3E "Spanish Teacher") was actually seen taking French (S2E3 "Grilled Cheesus") - And in that episode he could in fact speak French very well - (like 3rd or 4th year well) Kurt also used the ASL alphabet in at least three different episodes (S1E11 "Hairography", S2E18 "Born This Way", S3E8 "Hold on the 16") and Kurt said he could sing in German (S3E18 "Choke") When did we ever see Rachel in a language class? or hear her speaking a foreign language?  If she spoke even basic German how is it she did not know what a "luftballon" was? or why wasn't she at least able to suss it out "luft" meaning air and "ballon" meaning just that baloon = airbaloon?     But now we know Rachel's resume actually belongs to professional vocal coach (who happens to be a real life person) K. Tupper - nearly copied word-for-word and presented off as Rachel's Resume and it's fraudulent

Adding that apparently Santana's resume used Rachel's resume as a template; and therefore K. Tupper's by extension - only changing a few things each time

Hiring your Senior Mgmt and you've decided not to Screen them? er..

When you are hiring someone for these high profile roles, they are generally someone really Senior in the industry, had really good reputation. Everyone seems to know them, and you think you do as well? BUT, are you sure you know them?

Few reasons why was that, the Background screening process had been deemed as tedious, and possibly invading privacy and most HR Managements would prefer not to go through this with their Prospective Executive Hire. 

Why Tedious?- The New Hires would be asked to complete additional forms, providing information and documents at times. The more countries you have worked or lived in the more information would be required. There could be times where documents had been provided to the recruiting agencies/ headhunters, the HR division, their relocation vendor. And so, the candidate goes, "I've provided this multiple times, to various people from your organization". 

Invading their Privacy? - First and foremost, I need to clarify on this, Background checks are done with consent from the subject themselves, and we do not look up Facebook or Twitter or even Instagram accounts to check who you hang out with. All checks were done through proper channel and the candidates would be informed.

So what happened next? 

Your company's name goes right on top of the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Consumers/clients start questioning on what kind of due diligence you have put in place. 

Is my kid getting the right kind of education if his Professor was having a fake degree?

Am I safe to shop?

If they cannot hire the right candidate, can they ensure the quality of merchandise or goods that I'm getting from their shop?

"Let's weigh it, would the cost of getting a background checks done be higher than the cost of putting your reputations at risk?" 

The Cost that you would have to spend to recover your reputation is going to cost the organization a lot more time and money than to conduct Background checks.

I'll say, screening your new hire is a MUST, but do within your means. If you're engaging a third party, have a discussion with them on your budget and what would they recommend.

Screening providers are well verse, and they should have sufficient knowledge to guide you if this is the first time you're attempting to do screening.
