Pathos
Pathos was a planet brimming life. It was a planet covered in vast lakes, plentiful vegetation, and some of the system's most intelligent races. Religion, agricultural inventions, domestication of wildlife, it was on track to be another thriving world.
Things took an unfortunate turn for the thriving world when a parasitic infestation arrived on a meteor no different than the others. Feeding off the life the world was brimming with it festered in the caves, taking over the bodies and minds of anything it could get to. The natives did everything they could, from blocking them in to burning the nests down, but nothing seemed to work. With worry and hopelessness rising throughout the lands the creatures begged for their light to come and help them before it was too late.
But their light was gone.
The natives were delivered a raging beast who exited the ground like an earthquake. Their worry and fear turned to terror as the beast rampaged across the world, as if it was nothing more than a game. It burned everything in its path, the fires becoming monsters of their own, and forced the natives to hide beneath the burning lands.
Very few things were able to escape, the beast leaving without a word nor sound. It left a scorched, scarred world with the few remaining creatures grasping at the little remnants that were left. Despite the worst coming to pass, the situation continues to dire as the parasitic invaders continue to grow in numbers.
