This is an original Japanese B2 poster printed in 1989 for the awards-era campaign of My Neighbor Totoro, written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. This is not the standard 1988 first-release B2: it is the scarcer awards variant, identifiable by the vertical yellow awards text printed along the left edge.
Why collectors prize this variant: Known as the "Ocarina / Flute" style, this is one of the most refined Totoro designs from the film's original era.
The left-side yellow text documents the film's awards sweep and marks the moment Totoro shifted from new release to canon - the one reason this version is significantly harder to source than the standard theatrical sheets.
