I love playing games. I love playing vintage games. Having the RetroDuo from Innex Inc. in your household will allow you to play those classic NES and Super NES games that you loved to play while growing up. When I was growing up, these were the Next Gen systems like we have today, and these games were visual marvels on the TV screen.
So what is included in the box?
2 Controllers included
5V AC Adapter for Energy Efficiency
Compatible with original 16-bit controllers
Dual Game Cartridge Slots
S-Video Connection Capability
Getting in all set-up was a breeze. Just took everything out of their individual wrappers, and started putting it together. Minus the controllers, all the cables hook up to the back of the unit. I was able to easily connect the cables between the gaming system, and my TV. All the cables are color coded, its like a game, just match the right colors to the specific plugs.
Once everything was hooked up, we put a NES Cartridge in, in this case Tecmo Super Bowl 14 (its an aftermarket remake of the classic game with updated stats, plays, and graphics) and turned it on, changed the TV mode from HDMI to auxiliary in our case, and there it was, right up on the TV, retro goodness.
Had a few small learning curves with how the buttons are programmed on the controllers included, being that they based on the Super NES controller, the A and B buttons for NES games, are really Y=B and B=A, and once you can remember that, playing games was a cinch. There is a switch on top of the system to switch between 8-bit (NES) and 16-bit (SNES) easily.
I love having the dual functionality of both systems. I love that games I loved as a kid can be brought to life again, and enjoyed not only by my wife, but family as well as friends also. A few impressions.
Sound playback on the NES is not as good as the SNES
Colors were slightly off on some of the NES games I tried, but overall was a good gaming experience.
Slight learning curve on the controllers especially with NES games. Controllers responded better with repeated use.
Small form factor, and easy to set up.
My overall impression, is a must have for people who want to be able to use what they have or search for what they used to like to play, holding tournaments on vintage games sounds like a great party idea too, so where can you get yours?
