Our latest Halloween album. This one's a little less silly and more scary, but it's still very campy and retro.

Retronica is a subgenre of electronic music we invented. I wrote a post about it a while ago, so if you wanna know more, just go here.
Retronica
(I get the feeling that this genre is going to be a thing pretty soon, so I figured I’d better post about it before somebody else describes and names it.)
This is a genre of electronic music I’ve been toying with for the past several years. I haven’t really managed to finish any tracks in the style, mainly because up until recently I haven’t had the means to make any.
Basically it’s inspired by the broad spectrum of old-school electronic music. Analog synth from the ‘60s and ‘70s, Mellotron, video game music, cheesy background music from old cartoons, toy keyboards from the ‘80s, anything that isn’t heard at a rave club really.
It isn’t exactly bitpop, or it shouldn’t be. The idea is that it’s more focused on mood and atmosphere rather than whether or not you can dance to it. Happy bouncy silly songs, ballads, creepy horror, whatever you can say with music, honestly.
If you want to hear people who are already doing stuff sort of like this, I’d suggest the Brothers Chaps’ music for Homestar Runner, Ego Plum’s work on Harvey Beaks, and @shufflehound. Some recent Mario games’ soundtracks are kinda like it too. There might be others, but y’know, how do you go looking for that sort of thing?
Anyway, here’s hoping the name sticks. I can’t exactly say I have enough influence at the moment to make this sort of thing happen, but one can always hope, right?
