“Take my seat.” Starchild/Velma?
Daphne loved her favorite couple; really, she did. Maybe she was a little sad at first that Starchild didn't pay a lot of attention to her, but once she saw how happy her best friend was, her sadness had immediately melted away. Velma deserved to be happy, and to be with a guy who liked and valued her for who she was... and wasn’t eventually discovered to be the one disguising as a monster. And Velma and Starchild were definitely an adorable couple.
In this instance though...
It all started because there were more people than seats at the table they all were sitting at, and neither Starchild nor Velma had sat down fast enough to get their own seats. They looked at the lone seat left, then at each other.
“You take it,” Starchild said to Velma. “I can go get another one,”
“No, you should take it,” Velma responded. “You just played three shows in three days. You should sit down.”
“I’m used to that. You’ve been standing for two whole days trying to solve that one case. You’re the one who needs to sit down.”
“Well I’m used to that too,”
“It’s polite gentlemanly behavior to let the lady sit down,”
“It’s also polite gentlemanly behavior to not swear in front of a lady because her weak, delicate heart can’t take hearing such foul language. Chivalry’s dead. You sit down.”
“Velma, I don’t want to sit down if it means you have to keep standing,”
“Well, I don’t want to do that either.”
“Oh, Gods below,” Demon grumbled. “They’ll be at this forever.”
Daphne sighed and stood up. “Guys, just take my seat. I can go grab another one from another table.”
Starchild and Velma blinked at her for a second, then looked at each other. Velma wordlessly gestured to the empty chair, then went to grab Daphne’s. Starchild sighed and sat down. “You win,”
Velma smiled and patted his hand. “Don’t worry. You’ll win next time.”
“How can I when I’m with a four-time debate champion?” Starchild smiled at her. Velma laughed.
Daphne couldn’t help but clasp her hands and coo, “Awww!”
Demon rolled his eyes. “Ugh, you’re making me sick,”
Starchild snorted at him. “This, from the man who melts into a puddle when Vinneketh kisses his cheek,”
Demon simply growled at him.
