The things I love about where Beyonce is at and what she's doing artistically: 🌻 For so many young black people across the diaspora, she is an introduction to a part of ourselves that we've lost due to colonialism and capitalism. You don't have to reach back for it if you don't want to (#sankofa). But you can't unsee or unknow what has been illuminated while you were paying attention. 🌻 Beyonce is polarizing. Those who love her, love her. Those who don't either detest her or are growing in their admiration. But no one can deny her artistically. She got the receipts... On gold paper. You don't gotta love it. But you can't not respect it. 🌻 Beyonce is criticized extensively. Some Christians think she's ✌demonic✌. Some conspiracy theorists think she's Illuminati. Some feminists think she isn't feminist enough, or that her feminism is problematic. Some white people think she's too black and divisive. Some black people think she ain't black enough and too white washed. Anti capitalists say she's a part of the system and the problem. The system still won't give her album of the year. What Bey KEEP doing in response? Living her best black ass life. Creating her best and blackest work. Giving birth to black ass babies. Giving y'all these G-D is a woman/a woman pushed your big head out/ respect women teas. 🌻 People keep trying to hold Bey accountable for how they receive her and she keeps letting you know that that's a personal problem. She isn't here to show you how. She's here to illuminate some shit. Even if you hate Beyonce you gotta ask your self why. And when you do, her work is done. That's art. Facts, no alternatives. #returnandgetit #receipts #beyonce #beyhive #blackgirlmagic #conjurewoman #witchyshit
